Crouch Recovery has added a new DAF XF 530 6x2 rigid to its 125-strong fleet.
The recovery vehicle was the company’s first to be sourced directly through Boniface Engineering, which fitted it with a Mk. 6 Interstater body, an additional twin winch and a Maxireach Lowline Under-Lift.
Its winches have a capacity of 15 tonnes, while the Maxireach Under-Lift is able to handle 33 tonnes. Boniface bought the XF chassis cab from DAF, before kitting it out with the equipment and body, while aftersales support will be handled by Ford & Slater.
Company director Adam Crouch, said it purchased the truck through Boniface Engineering because of its need for top-of-the-line equipment, but has a good rapport with DAF’s dealer network.
“Because of the work we do, we sourced this latest DAF entirely through Boniface Engineering. We wanted them to fit the latest specialist gear that we needed on it and give us an all-round supply package on their equipment and bodywork,” explained Crouch.
“We hadn’t had DAF for a while, but in the past we always had a great relationship with Ford & Slater in Leicester, DW Commercials and FW Abbots dealers and repair agents, so we trust the quality of the trucks,” said Crouch.
The XF’s driver, Ian Ashby, has said he’s “very happy with it” which network manager Rob Garner confirmed: “he likes the cab comfort and overall performance of his XF’s Super Space Cab.”
Since being delivered, the XF 530, thanks to its MAUT (the German toll) compliance, has worked within Germany and other EU countries, but Garner said that the XF spends 80% of its time within the UK.
