DAF Trucks has added a new Remote Tacho Download function to its DAF Connect fleet management service, which UK operators can now purchase from any DAF dealer for £482.30.
Available as an app that features on the manufacturer’s Connect dashboard, Remote Tacho Download helps operators monitor fleet and driver performance in real time. DAF claims the service offers “quick and comprehensive access to the full range of tacho information available”.
Jorg Wijnands, DAF marketing manager, said: “Maintaining an accurate record of driver cards and the tachograph’s memory is very labour intensive and prone to error. You can end up paying thousands of euros for each instance of inaccurate bookkeeping.”
He added: “The transport operator can also monitor its trucks and drivers constantly to ensure that they are complying with driving and rest period guidelines, and to intervene when necessary. This offers a greater sense of security in terms of road safety and the risk of fines.”
