DAF and Mercedes-Benz have already confirmed what will be amongst their new vehicles on display at the upcoming IAA commercial vehicle show in Hannover and released two teaser images of the new trucks.

DAF’s star attraction will be the new DAF XD, their distrubtion truck replacement for the current CF. Using the same platform as the XF, XG and XG+, the XD is said to be “Fully prepared for zero emission drivelines” and will be available alongside the CF when production is planned to start in the Autumn.

DAF says the new model has a larger windscreen and side windows with an ultra-low belt- line to give it best in class levels of visibility. That will be on top of getting DAF Corner View and DAF Digital Camera Systems. The new XD will be equipped with the range of Paccar MX-11 engines and has been redesigned with new cab and rear axle suspension to improve the ride quality.

Mercedes has also confirmed it plans to unveil its battery-electric eActros LongHaul long-distance truck which is said to be “a preview of the design theme of the series-production vehicle”.

First prototypes of the LongHaul are already undergoing tests as the vehicles edges closer to a final production model that is set to be on the road by 2024. The truck is said to have a range of around 500km from a single charge and will be equipped with high-performance ‘megawatt” charging where the batteries can be charged from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes.
