Wimbledon-based ELB Partners has taken delivery of the last two of its order for 11 Volvo FLs featuring a top safety spec for life on London’s streets.

ELB, which has 22 Volvos in its 38-strong fleet, is a gold-accredited FORS member and CLOCS participant.

At a cost of approximately £5,000 per truck, the Volvos, supplied by MC Truck and Bus Thurrock, feature five camera systems, side scan and left-turn audible warning, as well as windows in the bottom of the passenger doors.

Peter Eason, MD of the firm, which delivers in London for Pallet-Track, said ELB trucks without the additional glass panels feature six camera systems (all supplied by Visiontrack), which provide better vision of vulnerable road users.

“The camera systems pay for themselves too,” Eason added, referring to their use in insurance claims.

The Lawrence David bodies are designed to take roll cages, as well as pallets and Hazchem products, for maximum flexibility.
