Eternal Lawns has traded in its 3.5-tonne vans for a pair of 18-tonne DAF LF260 hook-loaders, which should make its operations more cost effective.

The new DAFs can carry a 9-tonne payload which suits the company’s projects. Both are fitted with a Harsh HH10 hook-loader system and a 4.1m Doncaster Steel Fabrication tipper body.

Working within an hour of Eternal Lawns’ base in Morley, Leeds, its previous workforce consisted of 3.5-tonne crew-cab and tipper-bodies vans with a payload of 1-tonne.

Owner and managing director of Eternal Lawns, Lee Grayshon said: “Our staff were spending a huge amount of time driving them to and from sites rather than actually working at them. It was obvious that we had to switch that ratio around and in doing that we took the opportunity to devise a truck that would be right for our needs.”

The driver’s prefer the DAFs too, the 3.45m wheelbase allowing for the same agility achieved by the vans while offering an improved working environment via the larger cab as well as improved visibility.

Grayshon added: “These trucks have been built bespoke for our job and will massively improve our productivity. In their first week on the road they’ve already started to transform the way we do things”
