The Lincoln-based operator GH By Products is expanding its trailer fleet with the delivery of 10 new Fruehauf step frame bathtub tippers.

The company has already placed the first two units into operation, with the remaining tippers arriving at a rate of two a month through to November.

Cliff Mear, director of GH By Products, said: “When we made the decision to expand and update our trailer fleet, our first thought was to talk to Fruehauf. Its bathtub tippers are excellent trailers, they’re very well-built and do an excellent job of transporting the loads of animal waste we carry.

“We work closely with Fruehauf to ensure the tippers are built to the right specification to meet the needs of our business, which includes being easily cleaned, something that makes our daily operation more safe, hygienic and efficient.”

The new tippers, which have a capacity of more than 50 cubic metres and join a fleet of 220 trailers, 43 tractor units and seven rigids, will be used to collect animal by-products from abattoirs around the UK to be processed into pet foods or used for incineration in the energy sector. Due to the nature of their loads, they’ve been specified with reinforced water-tight and air-operated tailgates, while five of the trailers are also fitted with drainage taps at the front and rear.

The new additions will eventually operate from the company’s depots in Lincoln and York but GH By Products, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, also has locations in Derby and Chesterfield.
