Gower Brewery has returned to Fuso for a new 7.5-tonne Canter, replacing a model bought in 2013.

The 7C15 Canter will be used by the award-winning brewery based in Pen-clawdd to make next-day deliveries of bottled beers, kegs and casks to pubs and small supermarkets within an 80-mile radius.

Supplied by South Wales dealer Euro Commercials, the Canter has a Dhollandia column tail-lift with 1,000 kg capacity, printed curtains by Fred Smith & Sons of West Bromwich and a 360-degree CameraMatics system.

Gower Brewery has taken the vehicle on a finance agreement with a service contract that includes inspections at the dealer’s Swansea branch.

Chris Mabbett, Gower Brewery director, said: “Our first Canter was exceptionally good. We don’t cover huge mileages but it never let us down. The previous Canter carried a full 4 tonnes. Its heavier body means the new truck has a slightly reduced payload of 3.7 tonnes, but that’s still a lot more than we’d get on most competitors’ chassis, and we’ll use it to the full.”

He added: “Some of the pubs we supply are on narrow streets and difficult to access, so the fact that the Canter is also a good bit smaller than other vehicles in its class and very agile too, is another big advantage.”
