The Green Group has bolstered its fleet with the addition of 63 curtainsider trailers from Lawrence David.

The Rotherham-based firm has also fitted Lawrence David’s Trailer-Eye telematics system to its entire 200-plus fleet of trailers, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and cutting trailer downtime.

The pillarless curtainsider trailers, which have been finished in Green Group’s distinctive livery, come with 13.7m tri-axle straight frames and a slimline bulkhead to improve aerodynamics.

Tom Lister, MD of logistics at the Green Group, said Lawrence David's workmanship and customer service had won it the commission.

Lister said the benefits of Lawrence David’s Trailer-Eye telematics unit, which had been fitted to the 63 new trailers, was so impressive the firm had decided to fit the unit across its entire trailer fleet.

He added: “We have already seen multiple benefits to Trailer-Eye.  It’s given us improved visibility on the trailers, improved our efficiency through proactive maintenance and allowed us to begin to reduce trailer downtime.

“Over the next few weeks we’ll finish integrating the Trailer-Eye system into our existing fleet management system, which will give us a greater overview of the fleet.”
