Steel stockholder High Peak Steels has renewed its fleet with six Daf dropsides on a five-year contract from Ryder.
The six vehicles, which sport High Peak Steels’ new branding, include two 18-tonne LF230s, three 12-tonne LF180s and a 7.5-tonne LF150.
The new additions replace six existing Dafs in the company’s fleet of nine vehicles.
MD Mark Thornley said the company has launched a major investment strategy after winning many new contracts over the past year, driven by the release of pent-up demand for steel following a period of uncertainty ahead of the EU referendum.
He added: “There has been major investment in plant and machinery over the past 12 months; we have extended our stock range massively and felt after 32 years it was time for a fresh and more up-to-date look that reflected our onward and upward investment and direction."
Thornley said the company refreshes its fleet every five years to ensure the company can continue to offer high levels of customer service.
High Peak Steels switched to Ryder five years ago.
Thornley said: “We need a vehicle supplier that can do more than simply supply the vehicles the trucks are on the road five days a week from 6am until 5pm, so they’re repaired and maintained overnight - that flexibility is one of the reasons we wanted to stay with Ryder.”
