Huntly, Aberdeenshire haulier JG McWilliam has gone to town with the latest Iveco to join its fleet. Having previously run several Stralis tractors on contract hire, it has now purchased an S-WAY AS440S57TX/FP 6x2 from AM Philip in Forfar with the standard two-year IVECO ON R&M package.
The patriotic livery features the company’s classic two-tone blue colour scheme with a bright tartan ribbon running around its waistline and up the side spoilers. The chassis, wheel hubs, tanks, mirrors and sun visor have all been colour-coded in blue, complemented by white bumper inlays, illuminated headboard, matt-chrome grille and Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels.
Mechanically, the S-WAY has full air suspension with a steering mid-lift axle, and is powered by the top rated Cursor 13 570 engine and 12-speed HI-TRONIX transmission. A ZF PTO, extended catwalk and digital axle-weighing system aid its primary role of hauling tipping trailers.
Driver comfort has been addressed with a leather interior, door blinds, bunk curtains, ambient lighting, night heater, navigation and Automatic Climate Control, with additional under-cab lockers also fitted.
McWilliams’ transport manager, Bruce McWilliam said “We’ve run the previous generation Iveco heavy truck before, and they proved to be good, reliable trucks. We’ve been impressed with the fuel economy so decided to add an Iveco S-WAY to our fleet. So far, we’ve had really good feedback from the driver. It is comfortable, quiet and has plenty of power for the hills. The cab is a nice place to live. We’ve had a very positive experience with the brand and AM Phillip provided a great level of communication while the truck was being prepared in their workshops before it went on the road. It’ll probably cover around 900,000kms over the next seven to eight years.”
