HIAB has introduced its next generation of hookloaders, replacing the market leading Multilift XR which was introduced more than ten years ago. The new Multilift Ultima incorporates a whole host of new technologies not previously seen in the sector.
Said to be the first step towards a semi-autonomous and autonomous future, the Ultima features uControl its next generation control system. Together with FutureTouch – an advanced all-in-one interface and display – the crane can be controlled and load and weight information displayed thanks to the integrated Load Weighing system that calculates weight during the loading process. Other systems include HookliftAssist which combines three different levels of camera-based assistance to help with load-handling, and the SafePosition detection system which is designed to prevent damge to other equipment by placing containers in a pre-set position based on their length.
According to Nikolaus Scheurer, HIAB vice president marketing and communications, the new generation of crane is a major change to the control systems and hydraulics that will enable a more connected crane to be introduced at a later date.
The Ultima can also be ordered with HiConnect, a connected service for customers to enhance productivity, efficiency and the safety. The system provides overviews and graphs to help customers monitor status, plan maintenance and improve the operation of each unit and operator.
Order books for the new Multilift Ultima are now open with the first deliveries due to start in the fourth quarter of this year.
