Kögel unveiled the KTT, which it described as the “perfect trailer for truck drivers”.
The tri-axle curtainsider was developed after extensive driver opinion polls, held at truck shows and at several motorway services. “Their suggestions were mostly down to earth,” said a spokesman, “things like more payload, user-friendliness and an appealing look. We checked out the feasibility of all of their suggestions, and incorporated them into KTT.”
In order to maximise payload, Kögel fitted alloy wheels and many other aluminium components. The rear doors are made from duroplastic sandwich panels, which have a lightweight but robust honeycomb core. The trailer uses Kögel‘s own KTA axles, the first an third of which are lifting.
A non-slip coating on the plywood floor is one of many safety features incorporated, meanwhile direct tensioners without a belt, help with easy opening and closing of the curtains. An ice-free system, which consists of an inflatable air hose mounted underneath the roof tarpaulin, pushes the roof upwards in order to remove accumulated water, snow and ice. It is fitted with flashing side markers to help warn vulnerable road users of its intention to turn.
