I.T.S. Transport has added a Volvo FH Globetrotter 6x2 with I-Save to its 11-strong truck fleet.

The family-run Irthlingborough-based haulier, which already runs a pair of older Volvos, opted for the FH because of its fuel-efficiency features.

David Donaldson, transport manager, at I.T.S. Transport, said: “Our trucks cover a lot of ground, so we need the confidence they are going provide us with the best fuel efficiency on every single journey. Volvo’s turbo-compounding technology was a major pull for us and we’re looking forward to seeing the savings at the pumps.”

Donaldson admitted that the driver’s preference for Volvo also played a part in the purchasing decision. “Our driver is big fan of Volvo,” he added. “We wanted a truck that we knew he would be happy in and he has always specified Volvo as his favourite to drive. You have to look after your drivers, and it’s fair to say he is absolutely over the moon.”

The new truck, which was supplied with a two-year Volvo Gold Contract R&M package, will be maintained at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia. It will work across the UK and Europe, covering 100,000km per annum.
