Iveco unveiled its latest version of the electric van. The brand-new zero-emission Iveco eDaily will be available at up to 7.2 tonnes GVW enabling a 4.6-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capability. Panel vans will have a load volume of up to 20m3 and there will be crew cab, chassis cowl and minibus body variants as well as single-wheel and twin-wheel versions. In what promises to be the most complete range of large electric vans on sale, the eDaily will come in a range of height and wheelbase options as well as alternative rear axle ratios on the 50C and 72C versions. The new Iveco Air-Pro pneumatic suspension will also be an option.
Power comes from a 140kW motor producing 400Nm of torque, with its speed limited to 75mph. There will be a choice of three different battery size options with a 37kWh module claiming to have the best-in-class usable energy of any LCV battery with an 8-year and 250,000km battery warranty to support it.
If additional power is needed a new Hi-Power function will give the eDaily a boost in power and torque, with the Driving Mode Selector also allowing the eDaily to have a One-Pedal Drive mode where regenerative braking is increased.
The eDaily will be capable of taking fast charging at 80kW which should be enough to add up to 62 miles (100km) of range in 30 minutes. It will also allow the remote control of charging operations and pre-conditioning of the vehicle temperature when connected to the charging socket.
A range of ePTOs of up to 15kW will be available in order to power fridge units, cranes or other items including an aerial platform which was on display using an eDaily 50C12E with 24.7m Palfinger platform. If connected to a power supply, the ePTO will also be able to function even if the eDaily’s eMotor is turned off. In addition, the new eDaily will get an updated badge design which is said to have lighter more agile and more dynamic lettering.
Also announced at the show was a deal between Iveco and Petit Forestier Group. The refrigerated vehicle rental and leasing firm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the supply of 2,000 eDaily chassis cabs for its rental fleet. Delivery of the first 200 is planned for 2023 and will be fitted with refrigerated bodies by bodybuilder Lecapitaine, a subsidiary company of Petit Forestier.
Customer orders for the eDaily have already began across Europe, with deliveries expected to start from the beginning of next year.
