John Raymond Transport has accelerated its expansion plans by snapping up six new Volvo FH tractor units.
The group said it had added to its 135-strong fleet “due to additional work and expansion” following its acquisition by Ireland’s Nolan Group in September.
John Raymond MD Paul Johns said the Volvos were bought because of the good fuel consumption performance of its existing FH units, and the back-up received from dealer Truck and Bus Wales and West.
“We purchased 50 Volvo units approximately four years ago,” said Johns. “They and the Volvo dealer have performed well during that period with little downtime. Our decision was also based on the feedback from our drivers.”
The units will operate out of John Raymond’s operating centres in Bridgend, Cannock and Swindon.
