JOST, a regular at the show over the years, has after a brief break returned in full force for 2019. “We wanted to return with something new to show,” said marketing co-ordinator Matthew Downey.
Arguably best known for its fifth wheels, JOST was keen to put another, very important part of its business centre stage – trailer axles.
Since 2015, JOST has been manufacturing and distributing a full range of axle types for various applications, having purchased the business unit from Mercedes-Benz. New at the show is the JPS 9000 – a 9-tonne pusher axle for 6x2, 8x4 and other vehicle configurations, which you can see on stand 5B30.
Another innovation is organic grease, a lubricant for its fifth-wheel couplings. This is completely biodegradable and available now for the same price as its traditional product. The organic grease product is compatible with JOST’s LubeTronic system – an intelligent, automated greasing system for fifth wheels.
Joachim Dürr, CEO at JOST, said the organic product was attracting a lot of interest from clients with environmental concerns and proving popular with clients in the foodservice sector.
The environment – along with a push to reduce maintenance requirements and a greater focus around safety –are, according to Dürr, the three main trends the manufacturer is seeing in the sector and informing its conversations with customers.
That ongoing conversation is why JOST is here too. “Being at the show is about our commitment to the market. While by being here we hope to drive sales of course, it is an invaluable way in which we can reach out to our customers, confirm these trends and understand their demands,” Dürr said.
