Gretna Green timber haulier JTM Haulage has recently put a new Renault Range T520 High 6x2 rigid drawbar into operation on a fleet of five trucks. Supplied by Border Trucks on a 4-year repair and maintenance package, it has a skeleton trailer body and a straight-boomed 10t/m KESLA 2110 crane.

Powered by Renault Trucks’ 13-litre, 512hp DTi engine, it features the Optidriver AT 2612F automated gearbox with 12 forward and 3 reverse gears, with steering-wheel-mounted operating mode.

JTM Haulage owner John Mason said the new Range T High was producing fuel returns in the low 7mpg bracket, about 0.5mpg better than the firm’s other trucks.

“Working on timber haulage is challenging. The terrain is difficult, exceptionally hilly and we are frequently negotiating forest roads that can be up to ten miles long. We needed a truck that’s robust, reliable and gives plenty of grip, power and manoeuvrability. The new T High copes skillfully with all types of terrain,” said Mason.
