Keltbray Group, has added 14 new Volvo FMX410 8x4 rigids to its fleet of 85, with four new FH tractor units expected at the end of June.

Supplied by Tim Atkins, sales manager at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London, 13 of the FMX feature day cabs, Boweld steel tipper bodies, 12-speed I-Shift gearboxes, raised chassis height and a lower door window. The 14th is a skip-loader, and has HYVA hook-lift gear.

“The 14 FMXs are our first Volvo Trucks and we’ve another four FH tractor units on order, in addition to one FM. Prior to ordering, we made good use of a Volvo demonstration vehicle and six of our drivers each took it out for a half day. Their feedback was extremely positive” said Terry Good, head of haulage operations at Kelbray.

FORS-Gold accredited for the last seven years, Keltbray Group has opted for additional lower passenger door glazing, side under-run panels, and camera and side scan systems.

Good added: “The vehicle ordering and delivery process with Tim Atkins was spot on. It’s early days yet but the FMXs are performing well and our anticipated vehicle retention period is five years. Working in London means the vehicles will only average around 60,000 miles per year and the Euro-6 Volvos also meet all the required FORS noise assessments.”
