Kelvin Lord Group opted for Globetrotter XL cabs on its two new Volvo FH 500s.
The 6x2 tractor units, which are the first new trucks to be leased by the Oldham-based firm, join a 28-strong predominantly Volvo fleet.
Commenting on the newcomers, which were supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, Kelvin Lord Group director Kelvin Lord, said: “Though we have experience working with other manufacturers, time and time again we have found that Volvo’s product performance, reliability and fuel economy are second to none. We’re fully confident that these two new FHs will live up to this high reputation.”
Driver comfort features highly in their specification, with family-run Kelvin Lord Group opting for Drive++ package. This includes a full leather interior, dual armrests on both seats and an adjustable steering wheel with neck tilt. Meanwhile, the Living+ package adds a lower bunk with a premium 50mm thick mattress topper, a luxury sleeper control panel, and Volvo’s Media package with navigation and 12in fully dynamic instrument cluster and secondary colour information display. Other creature comforts include a 33-litre fridge, microwave and coffee-maker. Both have been specified with Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels.
On the safety front, the optional Visibility+ package adds automatic V-shaped LED headlamps, heated mirrors and rain-sensitive windscreen wipers.
“Our drivers all put in their fair share of hard graft and then some, so it’s only right they are given the right tools to make their lives easier,” added Lord. “Moving forward, Volvo will remain our first port of call for any new vehicles we’re looking to take onboard.”
The trucks, which are expected to cover 100,000km annually, have been supplied via a three-year finance lease agreement from Volvo Financial Services.
