Ken White Distribution continues to switch from Scania to Mercedes-Benz, having just taken delivery of three new trucks.
Over the past five years the Andover-based operator has ordered four of five new Mercedes’ a year from local dealer Marshall Truck & Van, and now 23 of its 26 trucks wear three-pointed stars on their grilles.
The latest purchase consists of a 4x2 Actros tractor and a pair of 18-tonners with Wessex Vehicle Services box bodies.
Like the rest of its tractors, the Actros 1842 BigSpace is plated at 28 tonnes GCW. Meanwhile the Actros 1824s 18-tonners have StreamSpace cabs.
All of the trucks the operator has purchased since 2019 have been specified with MirrorCam. They also feature Predictive Powertrain Control and Multimedia Cockpits.
On the subject of MirrorCam, co-director and transport manager Ian Reeve said: “We employ a number of long-serving drivers and I’ll admit there was a bit of resistance to the introduction of MirrorCam from some of them. But they were quickly won over when they started using the system and now, because the visibility is so much better, they all think it’s brilliant.”
He also praised Marshall’s truck sales executive John Sunderland for providing “a first-class service”.
