King Concrete mixes it up with double Arocs hat trick

Concrete supplier King Concrete has ordered a trio of Mercedes Arocs 32-tonne mixer trucks.

It follows delivery of another three mixers earlier in the year, all six of which were supplied by dealer Rygor Commercials, which offers such pre-built vehicles from the manufacturer’s WorkReady range.

All are 3243 models with Classicspace M-cabs, with 10.7-litre 428hp six-cylinder engines, PowerShift 3 automated manual transmissions and mixer drums by Schwing Stetter.

They are fitted with the manufacturer’s Mirrorcam digital mirror replacement system and multimedia cockpit, which replaces a portion of the switchgear with twin screens. They were also supplied with Mercedes’ complete service contracts, will be maintained at Rygor’s new Heathrow Truck Centre in Stanwell and have a two-star rating for Transport for London’s Direct Vision scheme.

The Croydon-based firm operates a fleet of 17 trucks, including mixers and pumps and, prior to acquiring the six in question, had previously sourced its trucks from specialist odybuilders. Managing director Nigel Leach said it moved to off-the-shelf vehicles for speed of delivery.

“We’ve picked up several new contracts and remained busy throughout the pandemic, so needed new trucks in a hurry,” he said.

“I confirmed my order on a Monday and Rygor’s truck sales executive Marcus Cahalin presented me with the keys to three immaculately presented eight-wheelers the following Friday. No-one’s going to beat that!”

“Image is all-important where our trucks are concerned, which is why we go for high specifications and reward our guys with cash bonuses for keeping them clean. As well as being reliable and cost-effective to operate, the Arocs is a great looking truck, particularly these latest models.”
