Ian Robinson Transport has purchased two new flagship Renault T520 High 6x2s to mark its 10-year anniversary.

Driver comfort and retention were key factors cited by company director Ian Robinson in his decision to opt for the Renaults.

“They are out on the road all week racking up thousands of miles across the UK and Europe, so it’s essential that their working home is up to the job,” said Robinson. “They had heard great things about the T High’s reputation from fellow drivers and fancied giving them a go too.”

The new flagships have been given to two brothers so they can judge how they run; a tried and tested strategy at the Lancashire-based company. The same brothers also tested a couple of DAF and Mercedes-Benz trucks last year to see which gave the best performance relating to payload and fuel economy – in which the Mercedes came out on top. So far there has been only positive feedback for the new Renaults.

The high specification 13-litre T520 High 6x2 pushers have plenty of options ticked, including Alcoa Dura Bright aluminium wheels, fixed roof deflectors, side deflectors with two opening panels, Kelsa light bars, and cab paint colour-matched components.

The new tractor units are additions to the company’s 23 strong fleet, which includes 16 DAFs, three Mercedes, a trio of Seddon Atkinsons (two of which are off the road) and a classic Leyland Roadtrain.

The Renaults were acquired via Blackburn-based JDS Trucks & Vans, and are supplied on R&M contracts.
