Longs of Leeds has refreshed its fleet with a 90-unit delivery from Ryder, complete with a fresh new livery for the operator.

The 50 Daf XF tractor units are fitted with Super Space cabs and AS Tronic gearboxes, and are also Longs of Leeds' first Euro-6 vehicles.

We invested heavily in the latter stages of Euro-5 so we weren’t into Euro-6 early," explained director Andrew Long, "allowing the technology to bed in. We are currently carrying out comprehensive driver and technician training in conjunction with Daf.”

He added that they'd gone for "a cleaner, fresher look" with the new livery.

The order from Ryder, which replaces older models on the operator's 100-strong vehicle fleet, also included 40 curtainsider SDC trailers.

The new vehicles will be based at the operator's depots in Leeds and Hull, carrying bulk freight in the drinks, food and paper products sectors.
