Culina Group has taken delivery of 134 new Volvo FH 460 6x2 tractor units with Globetrotter cabs following a trial.

They will be used to deliver food and drink products seven days a week, will cover between 150,000km and 260,000km per annum, and are expected to remain in service for three years.

The trucks, which join the company’s fleet of 2,400 commercial vehicles, were supplied by Hartshorne Motor Services on a Volvo Financial Services operating lease, and include the manufacturer’s Gold Contract R&M package, which “guarantees the best possible uptime” and includes access to its dealer network.

They include Volvo’s Dynafleet telematics system and its long-haul fuel package.

“We opted for Volvo after comparing the FH closely against equivalent vehicles from most of the other major manufacturers,” said fleet director Mark Matkin. “As well as being the most competitive on fuel, the Globetrotter cab scored highly for driver comfort.

“We have changed from 500hp to 460hp for this order. We have also gone for a medium height chassis and removed the external sun visor to further improve the aerodynamics. All these points add up to the new FHs being incredibly fuel efficient.”
