Ready-mix concrete firm Mincrete has added two new Mercedes-Benz Arocs mixer trucks to its fleet to help with the demand for product needed at HS2 sites in Staffordshire and Cheshire.
The new trucks have ClassicSpace M-cabs and are 3243 variants with 428hp engines and 12-speed Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated manual transmissions with crawl functions.
“We also specified the same engine for the three 32-tonne mixers we acquired in 2019,” reported transport manager Paul Mullington. “I believe it is better suited to the hilly terrain in this area, and when driven correctly more economical than the 400hp alternative.”
As with their predecessors, Mincrete’s latest mixers are fitted with 8m3 drums by Liebherr painted in a distinctive pink.
Supplied by eStar Truck & Van on a Mercedes-Benz Finance contract hire agreement, a further two identical vehicles are also on order for delivery next spring.
Mullington continued: “Although our own focus is on housing developments, work on the stretch of HS2 from Birmingham to Crewe means there is a lot of demand for concrete mixers in this part of the country right now, so we’re extremely busy.”
The 8x4 Arocs will be inspected and maintained at eStar’s Stoke-on-Trent branch and join 13 other Mercedes-Benz trucks – including other eight-wheeled mixers, with six- and four-wheeled versions and an 18-tonne concrete pump.
