Monaghan Freight has taken delivery of a Volvo FH 540 6x4 tractor.
Plated for 120-tonne operations, the Globetrotter-cabbed truck joins the Fermanagh-based family-run firm’s eight-strong truck fleet, and is expected to clock-up 100,000km per annum. It will be used to facilitate the movement of a diverse range of specialist loads, including heavy quarry equipment, excavators, transformers, and generators, across the UK from the company's Northern Ireland headquarters.
Commenting on the new arrival, which was supplied by Dennison Commercials, Stephen Monaghan, MD of Monaghan Freight, emphasised its long-standing relationship with Volvo Trucks and the strategic fit of the new vehicle. "Given the specialist loads we work with, and especially the sheer weight involved, all our trucks must deliver standard-setting driving performance, manoeuvrability, and comfort,” he said. “We're pleased to say that the Volvo FH easily delivers on all these fronts. It is the ideal product for our business."
The FH is powered by the 540hp D13K engine, matched to Volvo's advanced 12-speed I-Shift gearbox.
Finished in Monaghan's distinctive black and white company livery, the tractor has been specified with Volvo's Drive++ package, featuring fully electronic air conditioning, adjustable steering, and an array of other creature comforts. It has also been equipped with a full leather interior, and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels.
In terms of safety, the vehicle incorporates the Visibility+ package, providing enhanced visibility through V-Shaped LED running lights, heated mirrors, and adaptive headlamps. Furthermore, Lane Keeping Support, Lane Departure Warning, adaptive cruise control with Forward Collision Warning, and emergency braking systems bolster the overall safety features.
The truck was acquired via a Hire Purchase agreement through Volvo Financial Services, and is backed by a comprehensive five-year Volvo Gold Contract, which covers repairs and wear and tear.
