MV Commercial is witnessing a surge in demand for skip loaders from the recycling industry, particularly for remote-control operated units.

In the months of May and June alone, the company secured contracts for over 20 skip loaders, marking a substantial increase compared with the same period last year. Now it’s gearing up for even more orders, intensifying its efforts in building skip loaders and refurbishing second-hand units.

MV Commercial’s strategic decision to expand its Ready to Go stock of skip trucks, including remote-control operated options, has proven to be a success.

“It was a great business move,” reckons sales director David Patrick. “We have the stock to meet the rising demand, and many of our customers now demand remote-control operated gear for safety and control reasons. It’s been a real success story.”

The company’s most popular skip loader model is the DAF LF 290, featuring either a Hiab Multilift Futura 12 or Boughton Power Reach 18 lifting arms, and equipped with reversing camera and beacon lights.

Midlothian-based Enviroworx is among those benefiting from MV Commercial's stock availability, having just put a DAF skip loader on the road (pictured). Director Aiden Moffat says: “It was a bit of an eye-opener. We had one on hire for a couple of days and once our driver got used to it, he thought it was great. It’s very useful to have the ability to walk around the skip in tighter areas. The remote-control system adds more safety to a job and helps to limit skip damage.”

Another company, Patersons Waste Management from Glasgow, has recently put two new DAF LF 290 skip loaders on the road. MD Ian McArthur says: “Having the ability to stand back when you are operating the skip loader is a huge safety benefit. We wanted to refresh our fleet on a fairly short lead time and MV Commercial was able to meet that need. Its ability to source the trucks with these additional features was also a significant buying feature for me.”
