Keltruck has supplied Nationwide Platforms Limited with its first Scanias, a mix of 50 P-series tractors and 19 P-series rigids, which will be spread across its 38 nationwide depots. It has another 48 on order for delivery later this year.

Commenting on the company’s reasons for moving to Scania, James Clarke, Nationwide Platforms Limited's head of transport said: “There were primarily three key factors behind our decision: a proven low total cost of operation, excellent reliability and the P-series cab's ability to achieve a 3-star Direct Vision Standard (DVS) rating when equipped with Scania's City Safe window.”

He said the third factor was especially important, seeing as London is a key area of operation for the company.

The rigids are all P410 8x2 rear-steers, equipped with Sterling Access Platform bodies, beaver tails and winches. The tractor units, all Scania P450 6x2s with Highline cabs, have been specified with factory-fitted catwalks and electronic handbrakes, and will be used to move step-frame flatbed trailers.

"Although it is early days, we are already seeing the fuel saving benefits Scania delivers,” added Clarke.  “And when you do need assistance, Scania has an excellent UK service network.”
