K Transport Services (Midlands)’s new DAF XFs are 1mpg more fuel efficient than the previous generation XFs they replace.
Commenting on its six new XF480 Space Cab 6x2 tractors, fleet maintenance manager Dave Preston told CM that based on an annual distance of 100,000km, each truck has the potential to save £10,000 a year at the pumps. He attributed this huge improvement in fuel economy to the new TraXon gearbox.
“Investing in new trucks makes perfect financial sense when the fuel economy gains are so great. The drivers are complimentary about the new trucks too. They report that the cabs are more comfortable and more responsive at junctions, with the gearbox being a marked improvement,” he says
In addition to the XFs, the haulier has also taken delivery of a pair of CF 26-tonners, fitted with Fred Smith Slidaflex bodies.
Finished in K Transport’s new livery, all have been supplied by long-term dealer of choice Greenhous Commercials. They join an 80-strong, predominantly DAF fleet.
