Designed as its premium truck tyres, Goodyear has launched its EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA ranges. The new products are suited to different applications from long haul to regional distribution. Focusing on sustainability, the tyres allow operators to reduce their fleet emissions with improved fuel efficiency and the tyres themselves use a higher proportion of sustainable materials. Up to 55% sustainable materials are used across EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA products depending on the tyre size.

Xavier Fraipont, vice president commercial EMEA at Goodyear, said: "The launch of the Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tire range represents a significant step forward in our commitment to support our customers in their sustainability journey and at the same time providing improved performance of our products. These new tires are not just built for today's needs but are designed with the future in mind, offering versatility and efficiency across a wide range of applications.”

EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tyres feature a new tread compound which uses more silica to improve mileage by up to 20%. Compared to previous generations, rolling resistance has also improved by 6%. A higher silica content helps to improve characteristics such as wear, heat generation and rolling resistance, all of which contribute to better durability and performance.

The tread pattern has been optimised to improve robustness, minimise damage and irregular wear. The EQMAX T ULTRA has additional sipes which support better grip and braking performance in all conditions.

For operators who are introducing alternative fuels to their fleets, EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tyres are what Michelin calls electric drive ready. They can be fitted to diesel, gas, electric and hydrogen vehicles. This means fleets can use one tyre solution across a range of different powertrains. These tyres have been adapted to have a higher load capacity to cope with the demands of different fuels such as electric.
