Phill Bascombe Transport has taken delivery of a new Volvo FH 8x2 truck with fly-jib crane.

The new vehicle is equipped with a Palfinger PK 92002-SH F crane with a PJ125 E fly-jib which can be extended up to 30.4m. It also has a winch and a grapple saw for tree removal operations.

Supplied by MV Commercial, the FH is also fitted with a removable Palfinger Personnel Basket, allowing staff to work safely at height, or used as an under-bridge unit to carry out vital inspections.

Phill Bascombe, MD, said: “This new truck is an upgrade to anything we have had in our fleet previously. It gives us the flexibility to take on a wider selection of jobs and allows us to work in more challenging locations.”

“We are supplying a new service to local tree surgery companies that are dealing with the removal of trees that have ash die back; these can be highly dangerous and need to be worked on from a distance of at least 10 metres. With this new vehicle we can handle this work via the remote control ensuring our staff are safe throughout,” he continued.

“This unit required more than an off-the-shelf solution, so we worked closely with MV Commercial to spec the truck to the requirements we needed. The team are always able to offer us a bespoke package that is not available anywhere else, and we’re already seeing the benefits from this latest addition,” Bascombe added.
