Insulated glass manufacturer Ravensby Glass has signed a six-year contract with Fraikin, taking five new Dafs on a full-service arrangement.

The business has taken two 18-tonne curtainsider rigids. The remaining three vehicles are 18-tonne specialist glass carriers, which are built on full air suspension and have a racking system inside to protect the glass panels in transit.

The trucks will work six days a week, covering about 60,000 miles a year.

Ravensby Glass chairman Nicholas Cunningham said the company was in a period of growth but having to retire some of its older vehicles, so it chose to try contract hire for the first time.

Cunningham said: "Fraikin showed early on in our conversations that they really understood our business, so the deal made perfect sense.

“We have expanded to become Scotland’s largest independent supplier of insulated glass units, so the deal means we can focus our attention on expanding the business further."
