Schmitz Cargobull is to introduce a rear-door security system as a factory-fitted option on its SKO refrigerated trailer.

The announcement at its pre-IAA 2016 show briefing shows that manufacturers are addressing the security problems facing cross-Channel hauliers.

The LS3 lock is discreetly fitted into the rear closure roof rail, not directly visible from outside, and can only be opened by an electronic combination lock (pictured).

The operator can unlock the doors by entering a code into a keypad on the front bulkhead, or by a remotely transmitted rolling code sent to a mobile phone. In this case not even the driver can open them without authority.

Schmitz Cargobull also revealed it is entering the LCV bodywork market with a box body for the Volkswagen Crafter range.
