Renault Trucks launched its E-Tech T Electric range of battery-powered tractor units at Solutrans.

The zero-tailpipe-emission trucks, which are available as 4x2 and 6x2 tractors, and 4x2 and 6x2 rigids, went into production in Bour-en-Bresse France this week.

They are powered by four, five or six 90kWh lithium ion batteries, which are produced at Volvo Group's battery assembly plant in Ghent, Belgium.

The trucks feature a choice of two or three electric motors, producing 330kW (450hp) or 490kW (666hp), and matched to a 12-speed Optidriver transmission. It takes 2.5 hours to fully charge an E-Tech T using a 250kW DC charger, achieving up to 300km on a single charge, and 500km after a 1-hour long top-up charge (20% to 80%).

The interior features a digital dashboard, which will simultaneously be rolled-out onto diesel-powered trucks.

In addition to unique badges, the truck's exterior is easily identified by a 115mm front-end protrusion. This aerodynamic aid is a requirement when creating a new cab that takes advantage of the latest European masses and dimensions regulations.

Renault Trucks now offers a full range of battery-electric trucks vehicles from the 650kg cargo bike to the 44-tonne E-Tech T Electric.
