Merseyside’s Recovery North West has added six new DAF trucks to its mixed-brand fleet of recovery vehicles. Flagship of the new intake is an XF 530 FAS 6x2 wrecker with a 32-tonne rear bogie carrying a Boniface 30-tonne K boom and remote-operated twin 30,000lb hydraulic winches. Three more XF 530s are FT 4x2 tractor units used for specialist recovery duties.
They are joined by a pair of LF rigids. A 12-tonner is a secure covered transporter, while a 16-tonner is fully equipped as a roadside recovery unit with an SLA tilt-and-slide rear flatbed twin deck body with spec lift and five-tonne winch. Both LF’s ride on air rear suspension. The new trucks were supplied DAF dealer, North West Trucks at Huyton, Merseyside.
Recovery North West operates throughout Merseyside, the Wirral and North Wales from bases in Liverpool and Prenton, Wirral.
Its managing director, Stephen Hall, said: “Overall, we run a mixed fleet, but when it came time to replace a portion of our vehicles, it was a simple decision to go with the six DAFs as opposed to changing like-for-like. The cost, performance and well-known reliability were deciding factors, while all our drivers – including myself – rate DAFs interiors as the best in terms of comfort no matter the journey. While the product speaks for itself, we have a great relationship with the team at North West Trucks who guided us through the sales process and will ensure our vehicles are always in peak operating condition through their excellent aftersales and service teams.”
