A boost in business has seen Route Logistics splash out on six MAN TGX trucks.

The Corby-based family firm, which runs 25 units and 15 trailers from its base at Rockingham Motor Speedway, placed the order after seeing its workload increase significantly in the past 18 months.

The deal was sealed following a trial run with a demo vehicle at the company’s base.

Route Logistics' financial director Amanda Wells said: “After diversifying into different market sectors, the growth in our general haulage and tramping activities leant towards the option for a greater specification vehicle and the TGX seemed the ideal fit.

“We initially agreed on taking three units, but positive results from the demonstrator led to us increasing the order to six.

Route Logistics' transport operations director Chris Robinson added: “The mpg returns on a vehicle of its size were very impressive, one driver managed a return of 11.77mpg during their shift.

"The drivers were impressed with the comfort of the ride, spacious interior and the general performance.”

The Microlise telematics system, along with a host of cameras and MAN’s back office support were key to the firm’s decision, he added.
