Carnforth-based Armistead European Transport has added three new curtain-sided trailers from Schmitz Cargobull to its fleet.

Each one has been constructed on Schmitz Cargobull’s Modulus bolt-on bolt-off chassis which, according to the manufacturer, provides enhanced strength and an axle load of up to 27 tonnes.

They also feature Schmitz Cargobull’s Rotos running gear, designed to extend the life of brake pads and wheel bearings.

The haulier has an 18-strong trailer fleet and provides haulage services across Europe including daily deliveries and collections in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Andrew Armistead, MD at Armistead European Transport, said its original Schmitz Cargobull trailers, acquired five years ago, have required minimal maintenance.

He added: “Our trailers are on a demanding and varied schedule between the UK and Europe so it’s really important they can handle all types of work. We can transport a 25-tonne payload full of paper one day and chemicals the next.

“We’re very impressed at how well our existing trailers have performed over the years, and didn’t hesitate in choosing Schmitz Cargobull again.”
