HGV electrical installer, SM UK, has opened a new branch in Dartford which will be fitting fully ‘Type Approved’ systems such as AI cameras, recording systems, sensors, truck door windows and low-level lighting systems.

The new branch will help prepare companies for meeting London’s Vision-Zero Project criteria, which aims to achieve no fatalities on Britain’s roads, as well as meet the Direct Vision Standard.

In addition to their technological systems, SM UK will also plan to provide more traditional services including installing extra in-cab storage, TV and fridge installation and additional power supplies, by the middle of the year.

SM UK recently moved to a larger 40,000sq ft office in Leeds to help meet current demand and has seen its turnover reach £9.5 million while increasing the safety equipment in more than 4,000 commercial vehicles. Their growth has also provided a further 25 additional jobs. SM UK MD Steve MacDonald said: “With changes looming to DVS and FORS we expect Dartford to be very busy”.
