Dash camera specialist SmartWitness is launching a new TfL-approved multi-camera product at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show, which takes place on 28-30 April at the NEC, Birmingham.

Designed to help fleets comply with the TfL Direct Vision Standard that comes into effect in October, the DVS Safe System combines a 4G/LTE multi-camera recorder with a 4G LTE forward-facing HD camera, 120 degree HD side cameras, 150 degree rear-view camera, and a 7in dash-mounted LCD monitor giving a 360 degree view around the vehicle. The system is available in 4-camera and 10-camera versions.

It also includes proximity sensors fitted to the vehicle’s nearside, alerting drivers to vulnerable road users or street furniture, and an audible left turn warning.

On trucks of 11 tonnes GVW and above, the DVS Safe System results in a three-star Direct Vision Standard rating.

According to SmartWitness, it costs around £1,200 to fit the 4-camera version and £2,000 for the 10-camera one.
