Belgian trailer manufacturer Stas Group will use Tip-ex 2017 to unveil a new lightweight moving floor trailer for the aggregate and asphalt sectors.
Kerbweight on the new AggregateStar moving floor trailer is close to that of a tipping trailer, explained Graham Macmillan, MD of British subsidiary Stas, which makes it more competitive.
Built using aluminium AggregateStar weighs 6,900kg unladen on an 11m chassis with a 38m3 volume.
Macmillan said: “It is significantly lighter than other moving floors currently in the market, and is getting closer to kerbweight of a tipper trailer.
“Stas has redesigned the way the bulkhead operates so it can be hydraulically retracted and Stas uses a moving floor system with interlocking planks (Cargo Floor HD Sealless) that discharge cleanly."
Macmillan added that the AggregateStar is a robust and functional alternative to the tipping trailer.
“It is safer than a tipping trailer, cheaper to operate and longer lasting,” he said. “The drive to improve operational safety means moving floor will start to replace tipper in the near future. Using a moving floor allows loads to be discharged on inclines and rough terrain, as well as under power cables and bridges.”
In March, Stas Group created a new subsidiary to take over all new sales and support of established Stas products in the UK.
