As Tip-ex 2018 approaches Commercial Motor has put eight-wheelers from all seven major manufacturers to the test in a unique issue on sale today.

CM pitted an DAF CF450; Iveco Stralis X-Way; MAN TGS 35.420; Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3240K; Renault Range K480; Scania XT G410 and Volvo FMX420 against each other in a quarry in Gloucestershire against each other – and the results can be read in the 17-page spectacular.

The past year has seen Scania and Iveco reveal new models, the XT and Stralis X-Way respectively, optimised for the construction centre. Both models will be on display at Tip-ex – which takes place at the Harrogate Convention Centre between 31 May and 2 June.

Meanwhile the DAF CF has benefited from recent updates across the board, while the remaining four are nowhere near approaching obsolescence as all are signed up to a programme of Continuous Professional Development with mid-life improvements appearing in their specs.

Tip-ex is the only show in the UK where you can see trucks from all seven major manufacturers.
