Trevor Pye Transport is commemorating a driver’s 25th year in service with a new Volvo FH 540 Globetrotter.

The Shropshire-based firm hasn’t had a new Volvo truck on the fleet for the last five years, but driver Chris Thomas is a fan of the make so owner Trevor Pye decided to mark his quarter-centry of service with an upgrade to his 14-plate FH.

Supplied by Hartshorne Group, the 6x2 tractor unit has a striking blue and red livery which has been hand-painted.

Pye said: “We used to only run Volvos back in the day and we still have plenty in the fleet, including some older vintage models. They have always produced a quality product and when we decided to get something for Chris to celebrate his 25th anniversary, he was very clear in his choice! His last truck was a 14-plate FH; he’s a Volvo man through and through.”
The new unit will work on the temperature-controlled distribution side of the business where it is expected to cover around 125,000km per year.

Named after Trevor’s granddaughter Florence and sporting a cherished registration plate originally purchased to mark Trevor’s 70th birthday, the FH is an addition to the fleet and takes the total amount of trucks to 15.
