Wheely Safe, the specialist in wheel loss and tyre pressure monitoring devices, has undertaken a major upgrade of its products to improve their connectivity. Its tyre pressure, wheel security and brake temperature monitoring systems now have the capability of integration with vehicle CAN-bus networks and third-party telematics systems.
The new enhancements introduced include a self-calibrating internal TPMS sensor, claimed to be the world’s first, and a key-fob sized walk-round checking device. This allows drivers to touch the TPMS and wheel security sensors in turn and receive an instant red, amber or green status indication. With a telematics connection, a log of walk-round checks can be maintained.
The patented internal TPMS sensor, which weighs 21 grams and can be fitted to all sizes of wheel rim, has a battery life of 5-10 years.
Wheely-Safe MD Steve Jackson, said “Truck and bus fleets increasingly want everything running through their telematics and that brings huge advantages for the Wheely-Safe product. It means we can provide access to real-time pressure and temperature data remotely, which can help to prevent breakdowns and takes the guesswork out of organising tyre maintenance.”
