Wrings Transport has added to its 60-strong fleet with a limited edition Mercedes-Benz Actros 530 GigaSpace Edition 1.

The 6x2 tractor, which will be used on general haulage work across the UK, was purchased to celebrate the Bristol-based haulier’s 25th birthday next year.

MD Stuart Wring said: “Our 25th anniversary could not have come at a better time, and it’s great that we will mark the occasion with a state-of-the-art, limited edition truck”.

Only 35 of the Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 1s will be sold in the UK, and Wring is quick to point out that Wrings Transport’s example will probably be “the only 530hp version in the UK”. The standard spec for an Edition 1 is 650hp, however, Wring feels that a 530hp will be far better for fuel consumption in the long term. He said he would have opted for the 510hp version, if Mercedes had allowed him.

Wring ticked all of the options with this truck, including MirrorCam and Driver Assist - the latter adding level 2 autonomy. The side skirts, which aren't available from Mercedes on 6x2 tractors, were custom-built by Tor Trucks.

Once the truck has been retired from service, Wring plans to keep it at Wrings Transport’s heritage centre.

Lombard Asset Finance facilitated the purchase with a six-figure funding package.
