Used flatbed or platform trailers and trucks for sale

Flatbed, or platform trailers were for many years the mainstay of the road haulage industry. Flat trailers had the advantage over box (van) trailers in that they could be loaded/unloaded over the sides or from overhead and could carry goods that were out of gauge. The main disadvantage was to secure and weatherproof the goods meant using ropes and sheets and that was a time-consuming process.

The introduction of curtainsided trailers with similar ease of access and far quicker load securing times has led to operators using flatbed trailers becoming seen as specialised hauliers. However many operators, especially in the steel and construction sectors, still choose to use flatbed trailers due to their ability to carry a variety of loads, including containers where the platform trailer is fitted with twistlocks.
