Heavy haulage trailers range hugely in configurations and permissible weights. Operating under Special Types General Order (STGO) regulations, they carry loads that exceed normal Construction and Use (C&U) limits. STGO gross vehicle weights are divided into categories: STGO 1 up to 46 tonnes, STGO 2 up to 80 tonnes, and STGO 3 80 tonnes upwards. Many heavy haulage trailers are rated to operate under C&U regulations when required.
