In the late 1940s Land Rover produced its Series 1 4x4 utility vehicle. This was followed by the Series 2, Series 3 and the Defender, a name that became synonymous with rugged go-anywhere vehicles used by farmers and explorers alike. Reliable and easy to fix, these vehicles are still seen in all parts of the world today. Land Rover introduced the Discovery and Freelander models, adding comfort and refinement to its commercial vehicle range, but production of the Defender sadly ended in 2016. However with a rumoured 75% of all Land Rovers ever produced still on the road today, these 4x4s will be around for many years yet.
