Montracon

Montracon will enter new ownership following its acquisition by Martin Group. The trailer manufacturer’s nearly 50 year history will continue under the investment firm. Although the financial structure of the company has changed, the plan is to keep business as usual for customers and staff.

MD at Montracon, Ray McSorley, said: “This is an exciting milestone for Montracon. Being part of the Martin Group gives us a strong foundation to continue delivering quality built trailers our customers rely on. Nothing changes in our operations—only our ability to grow stronger from here.”

A spokesperson at Martin Group said: “This acquisition reflects our commitment to investing not just in a respected brand, but in the people, products, and facilities that have made Montracon a leader in its field. We believe in long-term, values-driven growth—and we’re proud to support the next chapter of Montracon’s success.”

With a similarly long heritage, the Martin Group has a portfolio of real estate and investments across the UK and Ireland. As an investment company, it works on joint venture and full acquisition models for everything from start-ups to established businesses.

Despite having a diverse portfolio, the privately owned UK investment firm has indicated its commitment to supporting British industry. As of 2025, Martin Group has a property portfolio totalling £1 billion and has investments in 20 different companies. Martian Group’s acquisition of Montracon is said to be a strategic move to invest in UK manufacturing.

Montracon is based across three sites in Doncaster, Derby and York. It manufactures a range of curtainsiders, box vans, flatbeds, machinery carriers, skeletals and rigid fridges. Alongside new stock, Montracon sells used trailers and supplies parts for existing vehicles. The company’s York site has the capability to repair and refurbish trailers. As well as refurbishing Montracon trailers, the refurbishment centre handles all other trailer brands including SDC, Gray & Adams, Cartwright, Chereau, Lawrence David, Tiger and Don-Bur.
