Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East has appointed long-serving Chris Donnelly as its new operations director.

Reporting to Christian Coolsaet, MD of Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland, Donnelly brings more than 30 years’ experience in the commercial vehicle sector. His career includes a 12-year technical foundation as a vehicle mechanic in the British Army, before progressing into senior leadership roles across the industry.

Donnelly joined Volvo Group in 2009 and has held a number of senior positions across multiple sites. In 2022, he was appointed sales director for Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East following the merger of two wholly owned dealer groups in the south of England.

Commenting on his appointment, Donnelly said: “Stepping into the role of operations director provides an opportunity to build on the success Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East has achieved to date and ensure we continue to deliver an exceptional standard of service. Operational performance is the backbone of customer satisfaction, and I see this role as a chance to refine every aspect of our processes.”

He added that priorities would include workshop efficiency, parts availability and supporting customers in reducing their carbon footprint. Donnelly also pointed to Volvo Trucks’ rise to number one in the UK tractor unit market in 2025 as evidence of strong customer confidence in the brand, its products and its dealer network.

Looking ahead, Donnelly said continued investment in the dealer group demonstrated Volvo Trucks’ confidence in its long-term growth strategy. “By investing in our people and embracing innovation, we will enhance the customer experience and support sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving transport industry,” he said.

Donnelly succeeds Stuart Potter, who has been appointed MD of Volvo Trucks South Africa.
