Thought to be the first of their kind in the UK, Qualitech Environmental Services has added two new Volvo FM Globetrotter 8x4 Tridem rigids equipped with ADR-certified Disab vacuum tanker bodies to its fleet. The new trucks have been specified to move heavy and often hazardous waste materials from customer sites across the UK.
Danny Casey, managing director at Qualitech Environmental Services, said: “The Volvo chassis is the perfect fit for the heavy-duty Disab equipment we needed to get on the back. These ADR-certified units are very specialist bits of equipment, unique in our industry. The support we’ve had from the team at Volvo has been fantastic throughout the build process and we are delighted with the finished product.”
Supplied by Anthony Walsh, customer solutions manager at Thomas Hardie Commercials, Qualitech opted for Volvo’s 500hp engine with 2,500Nm of torque. Paired with a 12-speed I-Shift transmission, the trucks also feature a hydraulic steered tag axle and rear air suspension.
On top of millennium silver metallic paintwork, Vinyline Signs & Graphics signwrote Qualitech’s orange livery. The interior specifications include Drive++ and single bed living packages which add leather seats and steering wheel, adjustable steering wheel with neck tilt, 28-litre fridge, microwave and a lower fixed bunk.
Casey said: “We have various depots up and down the country with the new trucks working nationwide. It’s important that our staff have the best tools for the job and Volvo has delivered the goods for us again. We have around 50 trucks on the fleet now and they are all Volvo supplied.
“As well as the quality of the product, the aftersales service we receive from Thomas Hardie Commercials and the wider Volvo Trucks network is very, very good. A lot of manufacturers have approached us over the years, but we have always stuck with Volvo due to the levels of service we receive.”
